Friday Flash Fiction #2

This friday's flash fiction is a ghost story...

GHOST

The air was rank with power.  It curdled the blood like the screams of a banshee.  Sweeping the flashlight in wide arcs threw muted illumination like silky cobwebs against stone walls.  She was close, so close I was breathing her in.  I brushed fingers across lips, uncertain whether I was revolted or aroused.

Her icy touch took me by surprise.  Ghost eyes wide and dilated, like I was an opiate and she an addict, she fed on offered energy.  I beckoned her closer and unable to resist, she was bound to me.  Mine.  My ethereal huntress.  My new forged weapon.

Very nicely done. You're good at the 100 word flashes. Not an easy thing to do.

I thought you might like this UF piece of mine: http://the-red-stone.blogspot.com/2011/07/eleventh-friday-flash-rainbow-effect.html

I thought the narrator would wind up the victim. I hope they're happy together!

Well done — and the pic goes quite nicely too!

Like John, I was expecting the narrator to be the victim instead of a hunter, so that was a great twist there at the end.

It seems the hunter found what she was looking for and a bit more. Nicely done.

"It curdled the blood like the screams of a banshee." Loved this line. Your story is tightly written, not a word or phrase wasted and full of deep, dark description.
